HB Sports Park Hostel

Scope of work

The project was for a design-build stand-alone hostel building on the Hawkes Bay Sports Park site adjacent to the EIT Institute of Sport & Health and Hawkes Bay’s Regional Aquatic Centre.

Constructed of timber framed walls and trusses on a concrete slab, it was clad in a mixture of fibre cement sheet and corrugated iron.

The completed building provides valuable resource for sports teams and other organisations with 72 beds and a large kitchen, adjoining dining room, laundry facilities and conference rooms.

The building originally went to tender as a complex half the size. Successful with a Provincial Growth Fund grant after we won the project, it morphed into a design-build project to maximise the size of the amenities for the funding they had.
