TKKM O Te Ara Hou School

Scope of work

This project was completed in late 2019 and consisted of the construction of a music, drama and visual arts centre at the school. A new single story 160 sqm building on a flat site, it was a BoT funded project with support from the MoE.

A new classroom block on a rib raft concrete slab on engineered ground with new verandah roof and footpath linked to the existing buildings. Fire system, electrical power, data, security and plumbing systems were extended to the new block. The concave and curved design made it a challenging build.

Working within a live school environment our team successfully completed the build.

Challenges

With obstacles blocking the radius line, finding the centre point from which to set out this add on to an existing circular structure was a challenge for our team. Needless to say they achieved an addition that blends seamlessly to the existing part of the school.
