This will be a hands-on role assisting the CFO with accurate and efficient accounting fundamentals and providing timely, insightful analytics and information to the business.

Alexander Construction has invested in accounting and job management software at the same time the business has matured into a large multicompany entity providing an opportunity for someone to come in and be part of embedding software and reporting tools into the business.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer you will be responsible for:

• Providing the CFO with confidence that the financial accounts are accurate by using your analytical ability when preparing supporting GL reconciliations and key cost analysis
• Monitoring compliance with accounting policies, regulations, and internal controls
• Providing feedback and enhancing existing reporting to improve the monitoring of financial trends and identify opportunities to enhance financial performance
• Have oversight of, approve and review weekly payroll
• Support the CFO during the business planning, budget process and at year end
• Perform ad hoc tasks that require an Accountant’s eye to be run over the transactions

We are open to an Accountant who:

• Is a proactive, energetic communicator who works well in a large team
• Is an experienced software user including the use of excel, accounting and KPI reporting software
• Has a sound knowledge of the fundamentals of accounting.
• Is keen to grow and develop with a business that never stands still
• Is very organised, has great time management skills, with the ability to prioritise
• Has at least 5 years’ accounting experience

Additional experience that might be useful includes:

• Experience in New Zealand tax administration
• Experience or exposure to financial reporting, IFRS, Leasehold accounting or compiling annual statement packs
• An Accounting degree (CA ANZ membership or CIMA / AFA qualification would be ideal but is not essential)

The awesome team at Alexander Construction are on the hunt for a Foreman Carpenter for immediate start to lead the projects we currently have secured and in the pipeline in our mid-size commercial / education division.

You will be leading a site-based team, including the co-ordination of sub-contractors, and will work alongside the project team to ensure your project is completed on time, to budget, with zero defects and that you are 100% proud of.

This role is ideally for a current Foreman with 2 years’ experience, however if you are a self-motivated Leading Hand or Carpenter wanting to progress your career forward, then we are willing to talk to you.

What you will need:

• A good sense of humour
• Full NZ drivers license
• 5 years’ experience in the NZ building environment
• Awesome communication skills
• Ability to interpret and understand plans
• Problem solving ability
• Good Health & Safety knowledge
• LBP registered (ideally)
• Pass a pre-employment medical with drug test
• NZ resident or NZ work visa
